TERESE LAHANN

Attorney

Terese Lahann is an attorney with over 25 years of experience. She started her career as a prosecutor in the Seventh Judicial District working in Truth or Consequences, Socorro, and Estancia. During this time, Ms. Lahann handled all manner of cases, from misdemeanor DWIs to high-level felonies. After living in Estancia, Ms. Lahann decided that while the scenery was lovely, the town was a little too small for her at the time. She moved to Albuquerque to join a small firm with a varied practice.

In 1996, she joined the public defender office in Alamogordo, gaining valuable practice and experience in criminal defense work. Following that, she returned to Truth or Consequences for a year as a partner in a law firm focused on criminal cases.

In 1998, an opportunity arose to join the Third Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Las Cruces. Ms. Lahann, a native of El Paso, Texas and frequent visitor to Las Cruces, chose to move closer to home where her grandmother and other relatives were long-time residents. While working with the District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Lahann served in the domestic violence, juvenile, general felony, and drug units.

From 2007 to 2016, Ms. Lahann had her own practice focusing on Children’s Court CYFD cases while continuing to consult and, at times, act as co-counsel in criminal cases. As of August 2016, Ms. Lahann joined The Lahann Law Firm in a desire to return to the primary practice of criminal defense. Ms. Lahann has long had a strong commitment to defending constitutional rights. Currently Ms. Lahann is focused on advocating for and obtaining successful record expungements to improve the lives and reputations of those clients previously charged with criminal offenses in New Mexico.
